Reunion at Risley Hall last night, of 8 members of 5B who 'left' school 50 years ago. We were transferred from Wilsthorpe in 1964 as 4WB (the 'W' stood for Wilsthorpe, and stigmatised us quite nicely) but in the 5th year the 'W' identifier was dropped (there was also a smaller class of girls transferred at the same time - 4WG of course)! It was interesting that this motley bunch of 11+ 'failures' achieved, as a form, the best 'O-level' results of any form that year (1966) and GDB Gray made special mention of this in announcing the results. There were 28 of us in 5B - 21 are still with us and traceable - and after such a great evening this time we anticipate a bigger turn out next time.
