Centenary Reunion 29/30 October 2010
Centenary Reunion 29/30 October 2010 – www.legsreunited.org.uk
The School was officially opened on 29th October 1910 and a special reunion is being planned for evenings of Friday and Saturday 29th & 30th October 2010 starting at 7.00pm and finishing by 10.30pm.
This is a unique opportunity to not only celebrate the school's opening, but to meet your friends in the beautiful surroundings of the grade 2 listed building before all the classrooms have been occupied by businesses.
To avoid possible disappointment you should apply for tickets as soon as possible. Tickets are priced at £14 each. Tickets will be sent by email, otherwise please include a stamped, self addressed envelope. Last date for applying for tickets is 15th October 2010.
Included in the cost of ticket is a cold buffet. There will also be a licensed bar. Beer priced at about £3 a pint for real ale. Tea, coffee, soft drinks, wine etc. can also be purchased at the bar.
We have allocated Friday 29th to those years that started school in September 1959 and earlier. (i.e. they would have left the 5th form in June 1964 or U6th in June 1966.) Therefore pupils who started in September 1960, (leaving 5th in June 1965, U6th in June 1967) or after have been allocated Saturday 30th October as their reunion day. You may choose the other day if you wish or both!
Those with disabilities should note that the only access into the school is by steps. On Friday the reunion will be held upstairs as the hall is used by a dance school. All of the downstairs classrooms and three upstairs have been occupied by businesses and therefore will be locked and out of bounds. That leaves the balcony area and several classrooms upstairs for the reunion, but please note that there are no lifts. Classrooms will be allocated to various year groups. You may look around the hall after 9.00pm. On Saturday the hall will be available all evening.
Our database is far from complete, and former pupils are scattered far and wide. Many who would be only too glad to attend may not have heard of the event. May we urge you to spread the word among all your contemporaries as much as you can? This event may be the last chance to access the building as it is now a business centre.
Yours sincerely

John Simpson (on behalf of the LEGS Reunion organizing committee)
