With great sadness we record the sudden death on Monday 18 April 2011 of Dr Clarence Hardy. Dr Hardy was a past-President and, at the time of his death, Secretary of the Australian Nuclear Association (ANA) and Editor of its newsletter. He recently completed four years as Vice-President (2004-2006) and President (2006-2008) of the Pacific Nuclear Council, which represents over 60,000 nuclear professionals in the Pacific Region.
Dr Hardy had over 40 years experience in research and management in the nuclear industry, initially at the Atomic Energy Research Establishment at Harwell in the UK and later at the Australian Atomic Energy Commission and the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation. He published over 100 technical papers and patents in nuclear science and technology and two books.
