Miss Henley Retires 1971
RETIRING 1n July after almost 40 years in the Teaching
profession is Miss P. A. Henley. senior mistress at Long Eaton Grammar School.
Born in Buckinghamshire, Miss Henley attended college in Leicester and had five years teaching experience before
coming to the Grammar School in 1937.

EXCITING TRENDS

Miss Henley (60) lives at 14, Harrimans Drive, Breaston, and in her retirement she hopes to continue her hobbies
which are botany, field studies and gardening. She said this week: “When I came here the senior staff were helpful and
had a very high code of professional behaviour and I have always been glad of the helpful guidance they gave me.”

Education as a whole has developed greatly in the past 40 years and Miss Henley commented: “There are some
very exciting new trends in education and there are a lot of young. adventurous people in the profession.”

Reflecting on her career, Miss Henley stated : “There is nothing I would rather have done than teach and I still enjoy it tremendously. but the time has come to hand over to someone younger.”
