This is Main Street Long Eaton taken from somewhere near the junction of Station Street and and West Gate and looking towards Monkey Park. The light coloured shop on the left almost hidden by a lamp post would be Scattergoods motor spares and the big factory on the right is the Tea warehouse which burnt down circa 1970. I believe the building on the left is or is attached to the Peoples Hall, which had a large dance floor on the first floor. Photo from David Wardell.

The building immediately on the left is part of Long Eaton Co-op's 'Central' Stores. The entrance just beyond the bus stop was originally access to the loading bays for the horse-drawn vehicles.
